Refashion: Pocket Purr-fect Skirt

Ever since I saw this ModCloth kitty pocket dress (here and here) I started "coveting" it. However, because I cannot afford a $367.99 dress and I don't see ModCloth sending it my way any time soon, I had to take matters into my own hands. It was a very easy to do, this thrifted skirt was the purr-fect candidate. Get it? purrfect? (silence and cricket sound) yeah...okay never mind that, let's go on to the refashion shall we? ^_^
Before
After
The pocket was very easy to make, maybe I'll make a tutorial if you're interested?
Top: thrifted
Belt: thrifted

Love your refashion! The kitty pocket is cute. Did you also take some of the gathers out of the skirt? I'd like to know how you did this! Tutorial on the whole thing, please? Pretty please? :)

Hi! I'm interested in learning how you hemmed your skirt. I have a plaid wool skirt that I would like to shorten but I'm not sure how to go about hemming it!

Yes, what Janelle said. Please, please, prettty pleeeeeeeaaaaaase.
I have the coolest red plaid (but way too long) skirt ON TOP of my stash, where it has resided since June because PLEATS SCARE ME.

Nevermind, that's ok; I'm gonna just go DO IT--make that skirt my own--cuz I wanna be like you when I grow up.
(But I'll check back later in case you tell us how you hemmed.)

I really like how you mixed the plaid with the lace.
